You've spent so long showing up for everyone else that you've forgotten how to show up for yourself.
Carissa Thompson, LCSW
Virtual Therapy for clients in Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, & Washington
You can be really good at handling life and still be tired of handling everything. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of your family, your career, your past, the job, or everyone else’s expectations. You’ve learned how to function, take care of what needs to be done, and keep moving.
But you don’t have to keep putting yourself last just because you’re capable of it.
Let’s figure out what life looks like when you stop abandoning yourself to keep everything else running.
You don't need fixing.
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that if we just tried harder, worked harder, stayed busier, or criticized ourselves enough, eventually we'd become the version of ourselves we were supposed to be.
But that's not how healing works.
The part of you that overthinks, people-pleases, shuts down, lashes out, or keeps everyone at arm's length probably had a really good reason for showing up. I don't see those parts as broken. I see them as protective.
Together, we'll get curious about those parts instead of fighting them, understand what they're trying to do for you, and find healthier ways to move forward.
Healing isn't about becoming someone else.
It's about coming back home to yourself.

Therapy with me is...
Curiosity. Compassion. Practical tools. And occasionally the correctly placed curse word.
It's laughing together because sometimes humor is what helps us breathe again.
It's crying without apologizing.
It's challenging the stories you've been carrying for years and asking: What if that isn't actually the whole truth?
It's leaving each session with intention - not "homework" that isn't doable in your life outside of session.
Most importantly, it's a place where you don't have to perform.
Whatever brought you here, there's space for it.
Come as you are. We'll figure out what you need from there.

I'm Carissa, a licensed therapist and real human.
I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to need one.
I’ve sat on the other side of the couch and done the work of healing family wounds, anxiety, and a nervous system that spent far too long believing survival was the same thing as living.
That experience shaped the therapist I wanted to become. I’ll ask questions, challenge you, celebrate your wins, and probably make you laugh along the way. Mostly, I’ll tailor therapy to you. Because you’re a human, not a treatment manual.
